118 Additionally, empagliflozin showed a trend of all-cause mortality reduction, albeit not statistically significant due to the limited sample size. 16 The approval of dapagliflozin and empagliflozin for use in patients with CKD and without T2DM provides this population with an effective treatment option, often used in conjunction with RAS inhibitors or as an alternative in patients for whom RAS inhibitors are contraindicated due to hyperkalaemia or hypotension. 117 The results of empagliflozin and dapagliflozin in trials for CKD are summarized in Figure 7 .
