Stratification by clinical stage revealed that patients with advanced-stage disease exhibited a significant trend toward a shift from anaerobic fermentative types (e.g., Clostridia ) to facultative anaerobic or aerobic types following chemotherapy, whereas differences among early-stage patient groups were minimal.
