In all four functional groups examined – immunomodulatory molecules ( Figure 8 ), proteases and protease inhibitors ( Figure 9 ), MEGs/VALs proteins ( Figure 10 ), and antioxidant molecules ( Figure 11 ) – we observed significantly more abundant proteins in the acute liver samples, while the amount of proteins in the intestinal samples, regardless the phase, remained unaltered and did not reach statistical significance.
