With the increase of soil moisture content, the shear strength and cohesion of the root-soil complexes of the five plants showed a trend of ‘first increase and then decrease’, and the peak values corresponded to different moisture contents: Caragana korshinskii and Astragalus adsurgens were 7.5% ( Astragalus adsurgens can also be 11.5%), Hippophae rhamnoides , Hedysarum fruticosum , and Medicago sativa were 11.5%, reflecting the two-way regulation of water on root-soil interaction.
