For WC-defined phenotypes, both obesity and metabolic dysfunction independently contributed to increased CVD risk relative to MHN: MHO (RR 1.84, 95% CI: 1.23–2.77), MUN (RR 1.58, 95% CI: 1.14–2.20), and MUO (RR 2.22, 95% CI: 1.63–3.04), with a significant trend across categories ( P < 0.001).
