Although the dynamics in the number of CD138 positive plasma cells before and after antibiotic treatment did not reach statistical significance between the two groups (median − 5 CD138 positive plasma cells in patients with endometriosis versus − 6 CD138 positive plasma cells in patients without endometriosis; p = 0.581), it seems relevant that in the endometriosis group, a few patients had increased CD138 positive plasma cells after treatment, while this finding did not occur in the non-endometriosis group (Fig. 1 ).
