Although the initial analysis of the HR subgroup did not reach statistical significance (HR = 1.04, 95% CI 0.96–1.13, P = 0.35), the increasing risk trend was consistent with the OR subgroup, suggesting the stability of the direction of the association.From a pathophysiological perspective, hypertension and atrial fibrillation (AF) have a synergistic effect on cognitive impairment ( 20 , 29 ).
