Shorter epilepsy duration and earlier age at implantation, although consistently reported as favorable in the qualitative synthesis of the systematic review, did not reach statistical significance in our meta-analysis, likely owing to study heterogeneity, and should therefore be regarded as suggestive rather than confirmed prognostic factors.
