In our study, retinal displacement was observed in 36.8% of eyes treated with SiO and 61.5% of eyes treated with gas tamponade.Although the difference did not reach statistical significance, this supports the view that displacement is a frequent phenomenon that is more prominent after PPV and may be more common with gas. This is consistent with the wide incidence range reported in the literature and the influence of case selection, macular status, detachment extent, imaging timing and imaging field on detection rates [ 6 ] and comparative data show higher displacement rates after PPV than pneumatic retinopexy [ 19 ].
