Although this difference did not reach statistical significance, the composition of failures differed markedly between institutions (χ2=24.87, df = 2, p < 0.001): secondary/residual caries was the predominant failure mode at DHC (25/32, 78.1%), whereas fracture predominated at DF (38/65, 58.5%).
