4 However, although our findings showed a trend toward lower bacterial diversity in the OAB group, they did not support this hypothesis, consistent with other studies that found no significant changes in diversity. 12 , 13 Previous studies comparing urine and vaginal bacteria in individuals with and without UUI found no differences in diversity but noted differences in Lactobacillus species between the two groups. 13 , 21 This finding suggests that the key distinction might not be in the overall diversity of the urinary microbiome but rather in the specific types of bacteria present.
