Subgroup analyses based on different follow-up duration showed no significant differences at less than 3 months (WMD = −0.19; 95% CI: −0.84 to 0.46; p = 0.57) and at 3 months it showed a borderline improvement favoring punctal plugs, though this did not reach statistical significance (WMD = 1.72; 95% CI: −0.04 to 3.48; p = 0.05).
