The research on the topic increased significantly in the last 20 years: the number of publications in the field of pharma-LCA during the 2011–2022 period was almost eight times higher than that of 2000–2011, describing a clear trend following the increasing interest in academic research in the subject of LCA application in the production and manufacturing sector, with the establishment of journals entirely devoted to the topic (Sabour et al. 2023 ).
