Thus, the replacement in four Synechococcus strains (BL107, RS9916, CC9605 and WH8102) of cpeE and cpeF genes by a fusion gene encoding a PecE/F-like protein (that we have called RpcG) is quite significant and it is possible that the PC synthesized by these strains binds a type 2 chromophore at α-84.
