The differences seen did not reach statistical significance due to the decrease in sample size when comparing effect of histology, but were a greater prevalence for methylation of the p16 (62 vs 39%, P =0.09), and DAPK genes (46 vs 22%, P < 0.05) in SCC compared to non-SCC.
