Oesophageal cancer risk estimates did not show a clear trend with time from serum collection, and none was significant ( Table 3 ), HRs (95% CIs) being 1.43 (0.90–2.29), 0.78 (0.50–1.20), and 1.21 (0.74–1.96) for cases diagnosed ⩽5, 5.1–10, and >10 years after serum collection, respectively ( Table 3 ).
