Other pathways such as recom- bination have also been reported to be involved in induction of LOH in normal human cells (Gupta et al, 1997) and loss of both alleles of p53 in a primary human glioblastoma tumour and cell line (Albertoni et al, 1998). For all loci examined (except 7p), there was a clear trend of higher occurrence of LOH in smokers than non-smokers.
