This tumour grade correlation with MAGE-A3 expression did not reach statistical significance, most likely due to the small sample size of patients with either poorly or well differentiated tumours. 9 of 12 (75%) SLN from oestrogen receptor (ER)-negative primary tumours expressed MAGE-A3, while 30 of 62 (48%) SLN from ER-positive tumours expressed MAGE-A3, though this association also did not quite reach statis- tical significance (P = 0.9).
