Biomechanical measurements of strength and histologic examination were performed at sacrifice to evaluate their correlation with MRI signal at sacrifice. Of the six groups of signal intensity data evaluated, four showed a trend among the nine dogs, three of which seem to correlate with the known histomorphology of fracture healing.
