Although differences in plasma insulin levels among the CDKAL1 rs7756992 genotype did not reach statistical significance, probably due to the limited statistical power (post hoc calculated statistical power: 28.3% for type 2 diabetic patients, 31.8% for control subjects), multiple regression analysis involving the genotype as an additive model showed significantly lower insulin levels in type 2 diabetic subjects with risk genotypes after adjusting for age, sex, and BMI.
