Analysis of splenic lymphocyte populations from individual mice showed that the total number of white cells ranged from 5.5 × 10 7 to 1.7 × 10 8 cells per mouse, with a trend (that did not reach statistical significance) toward fewer total lymphocytes in the more severely arthritic mice (Table 1 ).
