This decrease was especially remarkable in young subjects (arbitrarily defined as those below the median age of the cohort studied) in whom serum HER-2 concentration decreased from 11.1 ± 2.9 to 7.8 ± 1.7 ng/ml (p < 0.0001), while this decrease did not reach statistical significance in older subjects (9.77 ± 2.3 vs. 8.7 ± 1.6 ng/ml, p = 0.09).
