However, although we could demonstrate a trend to higher ghrelin serum concentrations in patients with liver cirrhosis, our findings did not reach statistical significance for the different etiological subgroups of pulmonary sepsis , abdominal sepsis , liver cirrhosis and non sepsis patients as displayed in Figure 1c .
