58 – 60 One recent meta-analysis of controlled trials of rFVIIa in nonhemophilic bleeding revealed that rFVIIa can reduce the number of red cell transfusions, and showed a trend toward reducing mortality. 61 Overall, the number of thromboembolic events were not increased compared with control groups, but the number of arterial thrombotic events was statistically higher (4.5% versus 2%, respectively).
