Interestingly, although a few of these genes showed a trend of increase also in monocytes and PBMC exposed in vitro to IFNγ, the induction was much stronger in terms of log ratio levels and more consistent among groups of samples treated with IFNα, confirming that these 64 genes can be considered the IFNα specific signature in human PBMC as well as monocytes.
