We observed an inverse trend for nasal colonization, where out of the 77 patients with USA300 infections only 13 (17%) were also nasally colonized with USA300, compared to 6/18 (33%) of those infected with other MRSA strains, though this difference did not reach statistical significance ( P = 0.19).
