Accordingly, treatment with vitamin D in experiment 2 increased serum 25(OH)D levels, urinary calcium excretion also showed a trend to increase (but not statistically significant), and serum PTH levels showed a trend to decrease (but not statistically significant) in both the control and hyponatremic animals and slightly reduced the degree of reduction of bone mass ( p < .05; see 1 B ).
