The two miRNAs with the highest expression, miR-21 and miR-155, both of which have been shown in laboratory studies to inhibit apoptosis, had higher expression in the IPMNs (6 of 10, 60%) than normal controls (0 of 5), though this did not reach statistical significance due to a small number of samples.
