Previous studies on R6/1 animals failed to show any effect of the HD mutation on striatal DA tissue content [19] [20] , however these contradictory observations were more likely due to statistical limitations (they used n=3 animals per group only) since they nevertheless revealed a strong trend toward a reduced DA levels in HD mice.
