There was also a decrease in the expression of cyclin E1 in the cortex of foetuses from lipopolysaccharide-treated animals compared with controls, 6.5 ± 1.8 U (relative to β-actin) in saline-treated animals compared with 2.5 ± 0.9 U for lipopolysaccharide-treated animals, but this difference did not reach statistical significance ( P = 0.15).
