This resulted in a significant trend over the lowest, middle and highest groups of hospitals based on sepsis-associated admission rates (1.4% vs. 2.5% vs. 4.0% sepsis-associated hospitalizations, respectively, P < 0.0001 by Cochrane-Armitage trend test) and based on sepsis-associated mortality rates (12.6% vs. 19.6% vs. 27.6% mortality among sepsis patients, respectively, P < 0.0001).
