Finally, the role of the different pattern of CD133 immunoreaction has not to be underestimated: with the limits inherent in the small series of cases with positive CD133 staining, we reported that cases with apical cytoplasmic CD133 expression showed a trend to a better prognosis compared to cases with diffuse cytoplasmic pattern of immunoreaction.
