Reeves et al (2007) used the results of the Million Women Study to estimate that 5% of cancers in postmenopausal women in 2004 were related to overweight and obesity (based on prevalence in England in the same year), and including nine cancers observed to have a significant trend of increasing risk with increasing BMI (including leukaemia, ovary, multiple myeloma and non-Hodgkin lymphoma, but excluding colorectal cancers).
