While the increased risk of preeclampsia associated with age at menarche ≤11 years, compared with the referent (age 13), did not reach statistical significance, women who had menarche at ≤10 years of age ( n = 8 preeclampsia cases and n = 106 controls) had a 3-fold increase in risk of preeclampsia compared with women who had menarche at age 13 years (adjusted OR: 2.99, 95% CI 1.24–7.21) (not shown).
