The site-resolved XMCD spectra confirm the existence of a quite significant orbital magnetization component 〈 l z 〉 at the tetrahedral iron sites: this is because E 1 transitions are allowed from the 1 s core level to final states which belong to the same representations ( b , e ) of group as the 4 p atomic orbitals.
