Reported sensitivity of D-dimer testing in the setting of suspected AoD is 100% and its degree of elevation even showed a trend toward extension of the dissection but not with the outcomes. 11 , 12 Even if it is not in the actual guidelines of AoD diagnostic algorithm, the use of D-dimer testing seems to be a good and reliable marker to rule out AoD in our differential diagnosis for patients presenting with acute chest pain.
