Effects were moderate for recurrence, and slightly smaller (but still highly significant) for breast cancer mortality and overall mortality. 8-year breast cancer mortality was 21·1% for the taxane groups versus 23·9% for the control groups (absolute gain 2·8%, SE 0·9; RR 0·86, SE 0·04, 2p=0·0005); for overall mortality the absolute gain was similar.
