We did not investigate DOPE-DOTAP formulations at other charge ratios in more detail because preliminary experiments showed that these formulations strongly adhered to flasks and were very hard to hydrate and resuspend with DNA solution, although these experiments also showed a trend of increase in transfection efficiency with increase in charge ratio (data not shown).
