It is interesting to note that, although significant changes in the absolute level of the DPOAEs were observed, we found no significant corresponding changes in either the time constant or the magnitude of the rapid adaptation process, both of which are known to be under MOC control (Liberman et al., 1996 ): changes in the onset slope of the adaptation are apparent (see inset panels, Figures 1 and 3 ), but these were small and did not reach statistical significance.
