Interestingly, a study of normal human volunteers showed a trend for a similar immediate and transient increase in ACTH levels after injection of a dose of cortisol similar to our highest dose of methylprednisolone (7 mg/kg equivalent to 2 mg/rat) ( 31 ), an effect that is not seen with a much lower dose (25 mg bolus equivalent to 100 μg/rat) ( 34 ).
