In the male population, which had a significantly higher incidence rate than the female population in 1996, the decrease was more marked with a clear trend of diminishing gender differences in HCV incidence in 2006, and with a lower (but probably not significant) incidence rate in males aged 0-14 years (0.05 vs. 0.15/100,000).
