meta-analysis reviewed 14 studies of women who became pregnant after breast cancer and reported that 8 studies demonstrated a significant survival advantage while the remaining 6 showed a trend-favoring pregnancy but did not reach statistically significance [ 61 ], Once criticism of studies reporting an improved survival for patients with breast cancer is that they may have included selection bias referred to as the “healthy mother effect.” The “healthy mother effect” infers that women who become pregnant represent an overall healthier group of patients with perhaps a lower risk of disease relapse.
