The total number of Tat-specific CD8 + T cells at the first time point analyzed (day 21 post-infection) was significantly higher in IL-7-treated than in untreated animals (p = 0.017), whereas the difference in Tat-specific CD4 + T-cell responses was close to but did not reach statistical significance (p = 0.051) ( Figure 6 ).
