When the OFF–ON group are examined separately, cue-evoked blood oxygen level-dependent activity correlated with the value of the chosen cue with patients made the correct choice both in the nucleus accumbens [one sample t -test, t (1,11) = 2.86, P = 0.015] and in the ventromedial prefrontal cortex [one sample t -test, t (1,11) = 2.93 P = 0.014], however, when we directly compared the activations in OFF–ON with the OFF–OFF group this did not reach statistical significance [paired t -test comparing OFF–ON with OFF–OFF, nucleus accumbens t (1,11) = 1.62, P = 0.13, ventromedial prefrontal cortex t (1,11) = 1.02, P = 0.32].
