Leptin levels were also higher in females than males; nevertheless, the difference between mean leptin levels in male neonates (13.1±9.37 ng/ml) and female neonates (16.39±19.6 ng/ml) in the whole sample did not reach statistical significance, due to the large SD values in the females.
