Among the four risk factors we examined (high maternal pre-pregnancy BMI, maternal pre-existing or gestational diabetes, smoking during pregnancy, and a lack of breast-feeding), the MF effect on childhood obesity was noticeably stronger in the presence of all these risk factors, although the interaction with maternal smoking and a lack of breast-feeding did not reach statistical significance ( Table 4 ).
