Validity of two simple measures for estimating life-course socio-economic position in cross-sectional postal survey data in an older population: results from the North Staffordshire Osteoarthritis Project (NorStOP).

Both datasets showed a trend of decreasing number of pottery jobs reported with younger age group and, whilst the proportions of pottery related workers in the oldest age group in each cohort was almost identical, smaller proportions were found in all the younger age groups in the NorStOP cohort compared to the Census data.
