Upright-assisted elevation exercises were found to generate significantly more anterior deltoid activity than that of all gravity-minimized exercises ( Table 4 ); one exception to this result was the rope and pulley exercise (30% ± 12% MVIC), which was not different from side-lying elevation exercise (16% ± 7% MVIC) but approached significance ( P = .00092).
