Higher tumor stage (stage III/IV) was associated with a higher risk of disease progression/OSCC-specific mortality; however, it did not reach statistical significance in the MDACC (crude HR 2.3, 95% CI: 0.79–6.75, p-value 0.13, HR adjusted for age, gender, and risk score 1.65, 95%CI: 0.53–5.19, p-value 0.39).
