Furthermore, a recently published trial of BMMNC treatment in acute ischemic stroke showed a trend towards positive correlation between number of CD34 + cells injected and functional outcome at 1 month. 82 We have demonstrated safety and feasibility in our patient cohort, as well as improvements in clinical scores and functional status at 6-month follow-up (unpublished data).
